Kathmandu, Nov 26 (IANS) Visiting Indian Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla, who is on a two-day visit to Nepal, paid a courtesy visit to Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli on Thursday evening.

Issues related to bilateral cooperation were discussed during the meeting at the Prime Minister's official residence in Baluwatar.

Earlier, Shringla had called on the Foreign Minister of Nepal, Pradeep Gyawali, and handed over 2,000 vials of Remdesivir injection as part of India's continued support to Nepal for its fight against the Covid-19 pandemic, according to the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu.

After meeting Oli, Shringla is scheduled to call on the President of Nepal, Bidhya Devi Bhandari.

Earlier on Thursday, the Indian Foreign Secretary had held talks with his Nepal counterpart, Bharat Raj Poudyal.

Shringla will visit Gorkha district on Friday to inaugurate a school building built by the Indian Embassy. This is the first visit of the Foreign Secretary to Nepal since he assumed charge.

The visit is in keeping with the tradition of regular high-level exchanges between the two neighbours and the priority India attaches to its relations with Nepal, the Indian Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said in a statement.

Shringla's visit comes after two back-to-back high-level visits from New Delhi by Indian Army chief General Manoj Mukund Naravane in November, and by Research and Analysis Wing head Samant Goel in October.

Shringla will return home after wrapping up his two-day official visit to Nepal on Friday.
