Historical Event on 8/6/1920
Film Censor Board at Bombay started working. The first film censored and granted a Censor Certificate No. 1 was a short film of 600 ft., produced by Gaumont Company and it was titled as 'Gaumont Graphic No. 963-964'. The Regional Film Censor Boards were also set-up in Calcutta, Madras and Rangoon.

12/16/1960	Ganesh Chintaman Karve, creator of Marathi dictionary and author, passed away.
1/16/1985	Balram Jakhar elected Speaker of the Lok Sabha.
7/8/1999	The bodies of 12 soldiers, who martyred in Kargil battle, were brought to New Delhi. So far 321 soldiers were killed and 476 wounded in operation Vijay.
6/30/1968	Makhanlal Chaturvedi, famous journalist and litterateur, passed away.
