Panaji, June 30 (IANS) A BJP MLA in Goa has tested positive for Covid-19 and has been admitted to a state-run facility, his office said on Tuesday.
"Necessary precautions are already underway to ensure the well-being of the MLA, as well as his associates. Requesting everybody to take care and please keep the MLA in our prayers," a statement issued by his office said.
This is the first instance of a sitting MLA testing positive for Covid-19 in the state, where the number of active cases reached 716 on Tuesday.
Another politician, a former BJP Minister, also tested Covid-19 positive last week and has been admitted to a designated Covid facility.
According to Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, the former Minister also suffers from a kidney ailment.
