Swami B.S.Tirtha Maharaj visits North America
Gaudiya Vaishnava Association‟s Founder Acharya, His Divine Grace Swami B.S. Tirtha Maharaj, was in North America delivering spiritual discourses on Srimad Bhagavat Gita/ Srimad Bhagavatam in English, Hindi and Tamil during the winter Transcendental World Tour between November 2010 and January 2011. Srila Maharaj travelled to Maryland, Washington DC, West Virginia, Connecticut, New Jersey, Georgia and Texas and also to Ottawa, Canada preaching God consciousness during the two month tour.
The most eagerly awaited "Bhagavad Gita made easy" by Srila Maharaj in MP3 Set was released by Him to the public at Mangal Mandir‟s Diwali celebrations in Sandy Spring, Maryland in addition to a soul stirring lecture in Hindi. Srila Maharaj was warmly received by Rabbi Yoni Kaiser-Blueth, Executive Director of the GW Hillel''''s Gewirz Center at The George Washington Medical University, Washington DC. Srila Maharaj gave a lecture on the Bhagavad Gita to the University students.
Srila Maharaj delivered an extemporary speech titled "WORLD PEACE" during the International Conference on the topic of "Crossing Boundaries: Transforming Identities, Cultures and Human Relations in a Global Village" held at the Davis & Elkins College, Elkins, West Virginia. Compared to all the other speakers from the academia, Srila Maharaj gave the solution that is most appropriate in this era of war and natural disasters.
He explained how envy is the root cause for the severe competition amongst humans that is destroying their peace and happiness. Only when one realizes his true identity as spirit soul and his eternal relationship with God, the Supreme Spirit Soul, can he experience peace and live happily here. We are all the children of one
and the same God. This understanding alone can pave the way for peaceful co-existence.
On special invitation, Srila Maharaj met Dhani Harrison, Ben Harper and Joseph Arthur from the band Fistful of Mercy‟ during their concert at Sixth & I Historic Synagogue, Washington, D.C.
Dhani Harrison is the son of late George Harrison from the very popular "Beattles" group. George Harrison was a devout Hare Krishna devotee. At the concert, Dhani Harrison dedicated one of his songs to Srila Maharaj.
Srila Maharaj presented Srimad Bhagavatam & Srimad Bhagavad Gita discourses at various venues in Connecticut, New Jersey & Texas. In Ottawa, Canada, Srila Maharaj met Professor Noel A. Salmond from The College of Humanities, Carleton University and gave a lecture at ''''An Introduction to Hinduism'''' class followed by an interactive Q&A session with the students.
Srila Maharaj presented King Kulashekara Alwar‟s Mukunda Mala Stotra, Srimad Bhagavatam & the essence of Srimad Bhagavad Gita at Johns Creek, Georgia. With blessings and guidance of Srila Maharaj, on December 4th, Harinam Sankirtan Yajna was performed by devotees during the Johns Creek Founders Day Parade, City of Johns Creek, Georgia. The Lord of the Universe, Jagannath along with Lord Baladeva and Srimathi Subadhra Devi gave darshan to thousands of people. The chanting of their Lordships Holy Names enthralled the crowd. Srila Maharaj left for London on the 2nd to deliver a series of lectures on Krishna Consciousness.
A self-realized person like Srila Maharaj, who is a representative of the Lord alone could transform a Godless society to a God conscious society. Srila Maharaj hails from Tamil Nadu in South-India. From the early childhood, he was introduced to fundamental spiritual concepts and received a trained exposure to various theological expositions of contemporary schools of thoughts as he gradually grew up.
