Playback Singer Shaan (Shantanu Mukherjee) was born to a musical family. His grandfather Jahar Mukherjee was the lyricist, his father Manas Mukherjee was the music director, and his sister Sagarika is also a singer.
Shaan made his singing debut at the age of 17 from song Kitni Hai Pyari Pyari Dosti' in movie Parinda (1989). He started his career by singing jingles for
for commercial aids. Then he started singing remix songs of old bollywood hits which got him famous. He then sang duet songs with his sister Sagarika in his album. He has sung songs in many languages.
He has appeared as host in singing TV shows like Saregamapa and Star Voice of India.
He got MTV Asia Music Award in 2000 for his song Tanha Dil' for Best solo albums in the category.
In the year 2013, he participated in the dance reality show Jhalak Dikhla Jaa'.
His famous songs are 'Behti Hawa Sa Tha Woh','Aal Izz Well','Bum Bum Bole','Where's The Party Tonight','Chand Sifarish' etc.
